EXPO - 529 We buy some of our hops directly from Roy Farms, they are located in Moxee Washington, and do a very large amount of hop business. We were asked about a month ago if we would/could make a beer with an experimental hop variety that they are developing. They actually gave us a list and we picked one at random.  Because it is still in the experimental stage of its life, it only has a number. 529. It takes about 10 years for a hop to go from experimental to being named and becoming a an actual market variety. The beer we made will be sent up to Portland OR to be poured at an event that the ADHA (American Dwarf Hop Association) is putting on with beers that were brewed with all of the experimental varieties. The beer we brewed is a 5.1% American Extra Pale Ale, "Extra” because it is lighter in color than a traditional American Pale and heading towards the lighter side in abv%. The 529 is the only hop that we used in the batch, it was also dry hopped in the fermenter with the 529.  The beer has a decent bitterness and some different hop flavors and aromas with a slight hint of lemon and maybe some mint and licorice? It is experimental so come try and see what you get out of it. Cheers!

Did you know that one of the grains used in the brew for our Belgian-style Golden ale, Golden Girl (pictured here) is Belgian wheat malt? In most cases, international beer styles are traditionally brewed with ingredients local to that beer's country or region of origin! So much fun to learn about beer and how it's made...thirsty for more? There are still a few tickets for our first ever Beer Dinner coming up this Tuesday evening - each of the five courses and their respective beer pairings will be introduced by both our Head Brewer (and owner of Bagby Beer), Jeff Bagby, and our Executive Chef, Brad Davis! We'd love to have you! Grab your tickets online http://bit.ly/BBCdinner - see you Tuesday!

We'd like to take a moment and pass on our huge thanks to everyone who was a part of this years Brewbies festival! It was a tremendous effort, and it would not have been possible without the many brewers and brewery reps, the dozens of selfless volunteers and the dedicated, enthusiastic Bagby Team. We hope everyone who attended had a great time! Just by being there, a part of such an important event, you are making a difference, and for that you should all be proud! Thank you, thank you, thank you! We're so grateful! #brewbies#craftbeerlovindogooders #workerbee #willyoubeermine

Please join us Tuesday, February 24th, 2015 for an evening of delicious culinary treats paired with a showcase of Bagby Beers. There will be five courses, each created and inspired by one (or more) of our burgeoning craft beer portfolio.

There are just a few seats available - by design.  We intend to create a very special, welcoming, fun, and educational experience for each of our Beer Dinner guests.  The dinner will begin promptly at 6PM in our upstairs dining room - a perfect venue to enjoy tasty dishes from our Chef, Brad Davis, and our outstanding kitchen team. Both Jeff Bagby and Chef will be discussing the beers and dishes, and how they pair perfectly with one another.

Tickets are on sale now at Brown Paper Tickets.

Pint Project

This past weekend we hosted an amazing event with our friends at the Pint Project who help families of EMS, Fire, Military who are in need of assistance. The most recent event was held for the Mejia Family. Mike is a firefighter with National City Fire Department. He is married to Marin Mejia and they have two beautiful little girls. During this pregnancy, Marin was diagnosed with advanced cancer, staged as 3B. In November, their baby girl was delivered early via C-section so as to not further delay Marin's cancer treatment. She was given a month to recover then began her treatment of radiation and chemotherapy. We were honored to help and even brewed up a very special IPA for the event that made it's debut on that rainy afternoon. We'd like to extend a huge thanks to all the volunteers that made it a successful fund raiser and fun afternoon. *all photos courtesy of our best bud leesa king.
